Coronavirus (COVID-19) Health & Safety Response

Last Updated: October 7th, 2020

As you may or may not be aware, the county/city of Salina has recently extended the COVID-19 regulations for its citizens.

The ordinance (No. 20-11034) mandates that face coverings be worn (over nose and mouth) when individuals are in any public space where social distancing of six feet at all times is not possible.  It also requires that all businesses, organizations, and non-profits require employees, customers, visitors, or members of the public to wear face coverings when in a facility managed by the business or organization.

Certainly we are not happy to find ourselves having to deal with these new rules.

Our Response:

In the interest of staying with in-person services...

  1. Church leadership is calling for Prayer on the part of God's people.

  2. Church leadership believes that this is a time that calls for patient endurance.

  3. Church leadership is requiring members who attend services to follow the following new restrictions:

    • Masks MUST continue to be worn into the SHCC facility all the way to your seat at which time they can be removed.

    • You can sit in household family groups but you must maintain six feet of social distancing from others. If you get up from your seat, the mask MUST again be reapplied.

    • When you are up moving around, masks must be worn.

    • Social distancing will be maintained on stage.  Musicians and preachers are also required to wear masks all the way to the stage and must reapply them as they prepare to come down off the stage.

  4. Children 5 years and under are not required to wear masks.

We will continue to have two services, 9:00am & 10:45am.  Unless you have a specific job to do, please do not stay for both services.

If you are sick, please stay home!  This would include, but not limited to:

  • If you have been exposed to COVID-19 or been in contact with anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the last 14 days.

  • If you are experiencing coughing, shortness of breath, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, symptoms of acute respiratory illness, fever of 100.4 or greater, or signs of fever such as chills, aches, & pains in the last 72 hours (without the use of fever or symptom reducing medications).

The following items still apply:

  • The coffee bar and BOTH kitchens will be closed!

  • We will have masks and gloves available for those who may want/need them.

  • Communion & Offering stations will be setup in designated areas as you leave the building.

  • There will be hand sanitizing stations available for use.

  • Access to certain areas of the church will be limited.

  • All classes and groups that meet in the church building must follow the mask wearing rules until they are seated and where 6' of social distancing cannot be maintained.  Class/Group leaders are responsible for the sanitation of their respective areas and bathroom used.

Thank you all for your patience & respect in this unprecedented time.  We love you & appreciate you all so much!
